North Dakota officials say the state now ranks ninth in the country for wind generation and credit college training programs for helping to build out the industry. (KXNET)

CLEAN ENERGY

  • A letter signed by 133 mayors and local leaders, including dozens from the Midwest, calls on Congress to protect clean energy tax credits that have created hundreds of thousands of new jobs and billions in investments. (Inside Climate News)
  • An escalating U.S.-China trade war is making it harder for clean energy manufacturers to find rare metals for semiconductor chips used in everything from EVs to LEDs. (Grist)
  • A Michigan city commission passes a resolution supporting a state bill that would classify its higher efficiency gas generator as “clean energy.” (WLUC)

HYDROGEN

Geologists create a first-of-its-kind map identifying potential sources of naturally occurring hydrogen, including a large area under Iowa. (Gazette)

BIOFUELS

Midwest biofuel advocates express hope that U.S. EPA administrator Lee Zeldin, who once sponsored legislation to repeal the federal renewable fuel standard, will instead increase the mandate to reflect growth in ethanol and biodiesel production capacity. (Harvest Public Media)
